Sustainability

Tjörnbro Arena is beautifully situated with the Hakefjord surrounding it from several directions. It is therefore natural to care about the sea and the nature around us.

For us at Tjörnbro Arena, sustainability is central to all of our operations and development. It is a journey that will never end.

We have chosen to be very operational and concrete in our way of working with sustainability. Because that is how you can actually concretize and realize wise words and thoughts into a real change. As part of the work with sustainability, of course, creating an equal and fair workplace is also included.
You can read more about that work via our Equality and sustainability policy

We are affiliated with the Sustainability Step and thus contribute to a sustainable tourism industry. The seasons we focus on when it comes to increasing the number of visitors are mainly outside the peak season – which aligns well with the Sustainability Step principle of more visitors when and where it is not full.

WHAT WE DO

  • We at Tjörnbro Arenas have a strong focus on home and local markets. We are actively working to schedule events before and after the peak season to spread out occupancy.
  • We also strive to reduce the environmental and climate footprint of our operations.
  • In the area, our golf carts & mini trucks run on electricity.
  • Tjörnbro Arena conducts internal environmental work that leads to continuous improvements
  • We have a year-round lunch restaurant where many visitors come from the local area.
  • We prioritize using local companies in our rebuilding phase so that revenue stays at home.
  • We are actively working on financial sustainability. For example, we have installed air source heat pumps in all of our 42 apartments to keep electricity costs down in the long term.
  • We recycle furniture where possible.
  • We are involved in building the Miljonmissionen foundation, where a certain percentage of all proceeds from our conferences go to the foundation.
  • Tjörnbro Arena also runs the association "Our beloved children", where we offer families who are struggling financially to go on a free holiday trip.
  • We work towards a sustainable tourism industry by adapting our restaurant menus according to the season.
  • We choose our raw materials based on what is available in Sweden at the time. This benefits both the environment and your wallet.
  • We do everything we can to reduce the amount of food that is thrown away and prefer to cook on demand or day by day rather than throw away.
  • We work creatively and purposefully to use as much of the raw material as possible to reduce waste.
  • Meat results in large amounts of emissions and it is therefore important to us that the purchasing channels are from the right areas and that as little meat as possible ends up in the garbage.
  • We avoid purchasing single-use plastic in the form of straws, cups, drink sticks, etc. Where disposable packaging is needed, we use environmentally friendly materials.
  • We only use cleaning products that are environmentally labeled with "sustainable choices".
  • We employ many young people and give them a broad experience in professional life.
  • We are part of the Sustainability Step for a sustainable tourism industry in Western Sweden.
